Inaugural agreement to make the AIJN CoP an official source of expertise in Russia

On Friday, 17 December 2021, AIJN, the Russian Union of Juice, Water and Beverage Producers, and the Russian Federal Agency of Standardisation signed an agreement to make the AIJN Code of Practice an official source of expertise in Russia.

 

The inaugural agreement ensures:

  • The development of self-regulation practices to ensure high quality fruit juice products on the Russian market;
  • Unified approaches to product quality in Russia and globally, stimulating export;
  • The elimination of legislative gaps in order to ensure fair competition;
  • Improving the image of fruit juices among consumers.

As the agreement has been signed, now the Russian Federal Agency of Standardisation is be able to include the Russian translation of the AIJN Code of Practice amongst its official standards. AIJN Secretary General Wouter Lox highlighted that this is a remarkable step for the entire global fruit juice value chain:

"This cooperation is significant not only for the entire fruit juice industry, but also for European-Russian relations. Today’s signing is an important recognition of the AIJN Code of Practice, and it is a huge step in assuring that only high quality fruit juices are provided to consumers worldwide.”

Maksim Novikov, President of the Russian Union of Juice, Water and Beverage Producers also emphasised the agreement's international significance:

“The signing of the agreement is a new global step towards the development of the Russian juice industry. We expect that the strengthening of international work and the exchange of experience will help to improve the image of juice products among consumers and open up new prospects for production growth.”
