Correct labelling of juices is considered by the industry to be one of the main means of informing consumers about the properties of the product allowing them to make well substantiated choices.
In addition to the EU Fruit Juice Directive and the General Food Labelling Directive that set marketing and labelling standards for juices, the industry has created a number of codes and guidelines to interpret these standards and set additional ones (e.g. QUID – Quantitative Ingredient Declaration, portion size, etc.,)
In the Regulation on the provision of Food Information to Consumers the European Commission foresees mandatory nutrition labelling and the ingredient listing on pack.
